A modern international curriculum based on the National Curriculum of England.
We are a British-style international school following the National Curriculum of England carefully adapted to meet the needs of a diverse student body.
Curriculum details
Our core curriculum is the National Curriculum of England.
The IEYC (International Early Years Curriculum) is followed in Foundation Stage. The National Curriculum of England is the core curriculum used for students in Years 1 to 6. We supplement this with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC).
All students also study the three compulsory subjects from Year 1 to Year 6, Arabic, Islamic Studies and Qatar History. Arabic and Islamic Studies lessons are also available for our native Arabic speakers in FS2.
See below for more details on each of these elements of our curriculum.
Structure of Year Groups
As a Primary School, our children range in age from 3 to 11 years of age.
The norm for schools who follow the National Curriculum of England is to group classes into Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. However, because we use the IPC curriculum we choose to use their naming convention of Mileposts, which is slightly different:
Milepost | Age | Year group | Equivalent Key Stage |
---|---|---|---|
Foundation Stage | 3 - 4 | FS1 | Early Years |
Foundation Stage | 4 - 5 | FS2 | Early Years |
Milepost 1 | 5 - 6 | Year 1 | Key Stage 1 |
Milepost 1 | 6 - 7 | Year 2 | Key Stage 1 |
Milepost 2 | 7 - 8 | Year 3 | Key Stage 2 |
Milepost 2 | 8 - 9 | Year 4 | Key Stage 2 |
Milepost 3 | 9 - 10 | Year 5 | Key Stage 2 |
Milepost 3 | 10 - 11 | Year 6 | Key Stage 2 |
